Python/MEL scripting in Maya

Dr. Saty Raghavachary

DreamWorks AnimationUSCGnomon

This course/workshop will teach you how to write small programs ("scripts") in Python and MEL - two programming languages that are available right in Maya.

Why should you care about scripting? Because it will help you automate routine things you do, create user-interfaces to pull together functionality for easy access, and also create new applications. Plus, programming/coding/software development is pure FUN! Double plus, graphics programming is even more fun, and is also incredibly rewarding [financially and otherwise] :)

About me: I'm a Senior Training Specialist (and also do graphics software development) at DreamWorks Animation. I'm lucky that graphics programming is a passion, hobby, career and joy for me - all rolled into one. Here is my brief bio. Feel free to email me at satychary@gmail.com, saty@dreamworks.com or saty@usc.edu.. I'm also on Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter - be in touch!
