Ray Tracing & Indirect Illumination in MTOR

A variety of new effects are available to the RenderMan artist with the addition of ray tracing. This collection of documents provides the introductory footing needed to get acquainted with the various techniques now available, from ray tracing, to caustics, to irradiance caches. 

Ray Tracing
Shaders can use ray trace calls to create everything from reflections, to refractions, to subsurface scattering. 

Indirect Illumination
Global illumination, color bleeding, and image based lighting. This form of illumination arises through diffuse light paths.  

Photon Mapping
Photon maps excel when multi-bounce diffuse effects are required, and are required for caustics.
