About RenderMan Studio |
RenderMan Studio marks a significant step forward in the evolution of Pixar's tools for cg artists and studios. By integrating powerful, extensible components like Slim, Alfred, and it with the seamless workflow provided by the RenderMan for Maya plug-in, as well as support for procedural DSOs and RIB-out functionality, RenderMan Studio is a best of both worlds package, with quick-and-easy access to cutting edge features for artists' desktops and industrial-strength capabilities for complex pipelines and renderfarms.
RenderMan Studio's implementation of the Render Man for Maya plug-in, RenderMan for Maya Pro, is a fully-integrated, plug-in version of Pixar's RenderMan renderer. It also serves as a bridge between Maya and RenderMan Pro Server, through its RIB-out functionality. The plug-in provides seamless access to RenderMan's speed, power, and stability for Maya users while imposing minimal changes to the Maya workflow.
RenderMan for Maya Pro takes all of your Maya scene data Maya Materials, lights, geometry, particles, et cetera and renders them with Pixar's RenderMan, right out of the box. Simply select RenderMan as your renderer and render directly to the Render View (or 'it') window with RenderMan.
Slim is a powerful, extensible tool for creating, manipulating, using, and reusing RenderMan shaders, bringing the power of RenderMan shaders into the hands of artists. Users can construct RenderMan shaders by interactively combining modules into networks, editing their parameters, and previewing the results, all without writing any code.
Alfred is a work distribution system that manages a hierarchy of parallel client applications connected to remote servers. The Alfred components are general purpose but they are especially well-suited for managing network-distributed rendering in the context of the RenderMan Studio.
it is a robust framebuffer/render view window, offering complete floating point support and a powerful and flexible catalog, as well as a fast and powerful imaging tool that is capable of production-qualilty image manipulation and compositing usually found only in high-end standalone products.
