RenderMan Studio 1.0

RenderMan Studio 1.0.1

The release of RenderMan Studio 1.0 marks a major milestone for RenderMan Products, encompassing a virtually complete re-envisioning of the RenderMan tools-based pipeline. At the core of this release is RenderMan for Maya Pro, an industrial strength, fully-featured implementation of the RenderMan for Maya plugin. RenderMan for Maya Pro combines the ease of use and tight integration with Maya that users get in RenderMan for Maya with additional support for the advanced features previously available only with MTOR. RenderMan Studio also features our robust set of tools: Slim, 'it', and Alfred, each working seamlessly with Maya and the RenderMan for Maya plugin.

Speaking of the tools, RenderMan Studio 1.0 introduces significant changes to Slim and 'it'. Both have completely redesigned user interfaces for an enhanced user experience, offering increased functionality and ease of use. But, we have done more than merely “pimped” our tools, we have given them a complete overhaul, “under the hood”, making them more powerful and more versatile — industrial strength tools to complement an industrial strength renderer.

RenderMan Studio 1.0 also serves as something of a “swan song” for MTOR. Although MTOR 7.0 is included with this release, to facilitate a transition to RenderMan for Maya Pro, it will not be supported moving forward.

Please consult the release notes for the individual tools included with RenderMan Studio for more details about this exciting release.

RenderMan Studio 1.0.1

This dot-release of RenderMan Studio includes significant enhancements and new features that make it more than a typical dot-one product. RenderMan Studio 1.0.1 provides enhanced compatibility with RenderMan Pro Server 13.5, limited support for Maya 2008, and significant improvements in Slim, which has been designated the 7.1 release to underscore the importance of these changes.

Once again, users are encouraged to consult the release notes for details about the many improvements in this release.
